Definition of Idolatry! Exodus 22:20 "He who sacrifices to any god, other than to the Lord alone, shall be utterly destroyed. 1 Chron. 16:26 For all the gods of the peoples are idols, But the Lord made the heavens. Psalm 96:5 For all the gods of the peoples are idols, But the Lord made the heavens. Psa146:5-6 How blessed is he whose help is the God of Jacob, Whose hope is in the Lord his God; Who made heaven and earth, The sea and all that is in them; Who keeps faith forever; Jeremiah 10:11 Thus you shall say to them, "The gods that did not make the heavens and the earth shall perish from the earth and from under the heavens." Rev. 14:7 and he said with a loud voice, "Fear God, and give Him glory, because the hour of His judgment has come; and worship Him who made the heaven and the earth and sea and springs of waters." 1 Cor. 8:5-6 For even if there are so-called gods whether in heaven or on earth, as indeed there are many gods and many lords, [6] yet for us there is but one God, the Father, from whom are all things, and we exist for Him; and one Lord, Jesus Christ, by whom are all things, and we exist through Him. Exodus 20:23 'You shall not make other gods besides Me; gods of silver or gods of gold, you shall not make for yourselves. Exodus 22:20 "He who sacrifices to any god, other than to the Lord alone, shall be utterly destroyed. Isaiah 2:17-18 And the pride of man will be humbled, And the loftiness of men will be abased, And the Lord alone will be exalted in that day. But the idols will completely vanish. Isaiah 42:8 "I am the Lord, that is My name; I will not give My glory to another, Nor My praise to graven images. Deut. 4:16 lest you act corruptly and make a graven image for yourselves in the form of any figure, the likeness of male or female, Deut. 13:4 "You shall follow the Lord your God and fear Him; and you shall keep His commandments, listen to His voice, serve Him, and cling to Him. Psalm 16:4 The sorrows of those who have bartered for another god will be multiplied; I shall not pour out their libations of blood, Nor shall I take their names upon my lips. Act14:15saying, "Men, why are you doing these things? We are also men of the same nature as you, and preach the gospel to you in order that you should turn from these vain things to a living God, who made the heaven and the earth and the sea, and all that is in them. 1 Cor. 6:9 Or do you not know that the unrighteous shall not inherit the kingdom of God? Do not be deceived; neither fornicators, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor effeminate, nor homosexuals, Rev. 21:8 "But for the cowardly and unbelieving and abominable and murderers and immoral persons and sorcerers and idolaters and all liars, their part will be in the lake that burns with fire and brimstone, which is the second death." Deut. 4:19 "And beware, lest you lift up your eyes to heaven and see the sun and the moon and the stars, all the host of heaven, and be drawn away and worship them and serve them, those which the Lord your God has allotted to all the peoples under the whole heaven. Deut. 5:8-9 'You shall not make for yourself an idol, or any likeness of what is in heaven above or on the earth beneath or in the water under the earth. [9] 'You shall not worship them or serve them; for I, the Lord your God, am a jealous God, visiting the iniquity of the fathers on the children, and on the third and the fourth generations of those who hate Me, Deut. 8:19 "And it shall come about if you ever forget the Lord your God, and go after other gods and serve them and worship them, I testify against you today that you shall surely perish. Deut. 13:6-8 "If your brother, your mother's son, or your son or daughter, or the wife you cherish, or your friend who is as your own soul, entice you secretly, saying, 'Let us go and serve other gods' (whom neither you nor your fathers have known, [7] of the gods of the peoples who are around you, near you or far from you, from one end of the earth to the other end), [8] you shall not yield to him or listen to him; and your eye shall not pity him, nor shall you spare or conceal him. Isaiah 2:17-18 And the pride of man will be humbled, And the loftiness of men will be abased, And the Lord alone will be exalted in that day. But the idols will completely vanish. Jude 1:25 to the only God our Savior, through Jesus Christ our Lord, be glory, majesty, dominion and authority, before all time and now and forever. Amen. Psalm 73:25 Whom have I in heaven but Thee? And besides Thee, I desire nothing on earth. Matthew 11:11 Truly, I say to you, among those born of women there has not arisen anyone greater than John the Baptist; yet he who is least in the kingdom of heaven is greater than he. Acts 4:12 "And there is salvation in no one else; for there is no other name under heaven that has been given among men, by which we must be saved." Clearly it can be seen by the Word of God being stated unequivocal that all forms of worship to any creature created by God is idolatry. To diminish, reduce, lessen the power, influence, and ability of the God who created the heavens and earth in any form is idol worship of the worst form, yet in many ways the church is in denial of some forms of idolatry.. Jesus gave greater glory to John the Baptist than any other human on earth but per scripture John is not a creator of heaven and earth, he is the creation of God therefore not to be worshiped. All humanity except the Only Begotten Son of God Christ Jesus who created the heavens and earth per John 1:1-14. Pastor Don Corcoran
