The Healing Power of Delight

We know a beautiful landscape delights the eye and harmony delights the ear. What delights the Lord? “For the LORD takes delight in his people; he crowns the humble with salvation.”- Psalm 149:4. The answer, His people. Various definitions of delight yield the following "A high degree of gratification of mind, a high-wrought state of pleasurable feeling; lively pleasure; extreme satisfaction; joy." The above verse indicates the Lord takes special delight in the humble, to the point that he crowns them with salvation (deliverance). I remember watching my children delight in the joy of being alive. Spotting a robin in the back yard would bring extreme delight to my daughter Lydia when she was a three year old. I would come home from work and she would jump into my arms yelling daddy, daddy, daddy. She delighted in her father. In many years of ministry to broken people, I have found that most had serious doubts about their relationship with God. Many felt He was against them, punishing them or that He was really disgusted with them on the basis of their past sins. When they allowed the truth of their being God's delight to sink in, they would began to see themselves and God in a different light. Here is a project, spend some time meditating on the above verse and let the fact that God delights in you become a reality in your heart and mind. This truth can be the start of genuine healing in a shattered life. Dr. Ken Copley is available for counseling, conferences, and local church meetings.
